What is iTribe trying to do?

I think that iTribe is bringing Henleaze Junior School further into the modern world around us. As a member of iTribe, I believe that everything should be easy to navigate and its appearance be intriguing. At the moment barely anyone, not even some of the staff, do know the full capability of our technology.
My approach to our adaptations is to make our use of the equipment simple to follow but still using technology to its full extent. If we focus on what the school believes is necessary to improve then, in the  short space of time that we have, we can make HJS satisfied. I also like to wonder about the ways different things can make our learning easier. Our ideas alone would improve our school to some extent, but with another 350 or so ideas our school could soar into the world of technology.
At our recent meetings we have been beginning to analyse our survey results. This then will form the basis of our work.

Hello.

I am Katrina.
I am in iTribe.

I feel that iTribe helps me change the pespective that I think about technology.
I've never known much about technology.
iTribe has helped me learn about it, and find out what technology the school has.
iTribe has also help me broaden my mind, and think outside the box.
I always look forward to our iTribe meeting, as we have ways very useful to communicate and use surveys, and because  I get to use an i-pad and macbook!

I have very ambitious thoughts about the school's technology.
I think that, together, iTribe will achieve alot.

Pupil Survey

Throughout the next two weeks all the Henleaze Junior School pupils will be filling in a survey so that we know what they think the school needs. This information will affect the technology that we change/introduce. If you are an HJS pupil please click this link http://tis.im/itribepupil. Thank you.

Staff Survey

All Henleaze Junior School staff are completing a survey to let iTribe know their thoughts about the school's technology. The class teachers are going to do this activity in a lesson at the same time as their class. Other staff are completing it at a time suitable for them. If you work at HJS please click this link http://tis.im/itribestaff and complete the survey.

How did it begin

In the beginning there was Mr Barber, desperately trying to work out the best way to upload videos to the school website. It ought to be so simple. (Or maybe it ought not. After all, we're talking about complex computer processes involved in getting film from camera to computer to web server and into your living room.) Radio Henleaze has been a page on the website for a couple of years, but as the school is making more and more film, Mr B thought it would be a good idea to rebrand it as HJSTV. But where do we put it and how do people find it?

That's really where iTribe started. When Mr Barber's old and crumbling brain started to struggle with the limitless possibilities, he decided to hand over to the experts. 10 year olds. Today's consumers, and tomorrow's designers.

Mr B is a Man With A Plan. The rest of the tribe have all been chosen because of the different skills they can bring.

Parent Surveys

We're very pleased with the number of entries to the parents' questionnaire. However, we still need lots more to receive the main verdict from all of our school's parents- only about 20% of the parents have gone on the survey.

Thank you if you are one of the 64 that have filled it in.
This means that you will be helping us innovate our school's technology.

Blog layout

Excuse us while we experiment with the layout of the iTribe blog. George is trying out different backgrounds, fonts and widgets, and learning how to use Blogger. So the appearance of our site may change everytime you look at it. Leave us a comment if you spot something you like!

Parents' Survey

We would like all Henleaze Junior School parents to complete our survey about the use of technology in school.
You can find the survey here:
http://tis.im/itribeparents

How iTribe works

We have project group meetings once a week, and in between times, we do lots of independent work at home.

Right now, we are conducting surveys to find out the views of parents, pupils and staff about the technology the school uses now, and what they would like to see in the future.

We thought it might be helpful to start a blog so we can keep people upto date on what iTribe is and what it does.

Nexus Meeting

Meeting at Bristol University

George and Luke went on behalf of iTribe to a meeting all about different ways of using technology in schools, and how ICT helps children learn.

What is iTribe?

What?

A "think tank" set up by Mr Barber to rethink the way the school uses technology to communicate.

Why?

  • Because HJS is pretty good at techy stuff and wants to stay ahead of the game!
  • Because we produce lots of brilliant stuff and we want to publish it so people can easily find and enjoy it.
  • Because the people who have the best ideas about the technology of the future are the children of today.

Who?
